This includes engineering and commissioning, servicing, training and consulting. They support their clients through the whole product life cycle.

Due to expansion and market growth opportunities our client has a rare opening for a R&D Controls Engineer to join their cohesive professional team based in their Newcastle office. This role will be responsible for the execution of R&D projects from idea phase through to market launch. It is a truly rare and exciting opportunity to challenge your ability and develop your skills to the next level.

This is an ASAP start for a talented Control Systems Engineer to join a global engineering firm with a strong pipeline of projects booked. Joining on an initial 12 month fixed term contract, this will suit those seeking a contract or permanent role

Key Responsibilities will include:

  • Liaising with internal and external stakeholders to define needs and develop products that will deliver clear benefit to the customer and increase sales
  • Deliver products that fit within the automation and intelligent controls space
  • Assist with the delivery of all R&D projects
  • Detect problems or anomalies and make immediate changes to improve performance
  • Assist with on-site commissioning in particular electrical and controls component
  • Prepare electrical and control designs for equipment in accordance with client specifications
  • Prepare PLC and SCADA programmes
To be successfully considered for this role you will hold:
  • A relevant Australian recognised degree in either Controls or Mechatronics Engineering
  • Minimum of 3-5 years proven track record in complex systems engineering (ideally high value, contract based projects)
  • Heavy Industry experience preferably Bulk Materials Handling Systems
  • Experience with lean principles, fast tracking product development and focused innovation practices is essential
  • Have the ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Be prepared to travel and work on site when required
